We’ve already told you why face filters are a no-no on your dating profile, but what are the best photos to use? What other photos should you be avoiding? Should you be focusing more on the photos on your profile or the information?
We’re here to offer the highly sought after answers to your questions – the results are in!
Pictures: What NOT to Post
The infamous bathroom selfie: If we can see your toilet, it’s probably not a good choice. Time for a new location!
Gym selfie: Did you actually work out? Did you just dress up for the photo? Whatever the reason, singles aren’t digging it, so it’s best to keep your gym sessions selfie-free!
Heavily edited/filtered photo: In case you didn’t catch our post on why you need to ditch your face filters – here we are, telling you again!
One in three singles have passed up messaging someone on a dating app because their photos were too heavily filtered/edited
Trust us on this one!
Selfie No-No’s
- The duck face: If you don’t already know what this is, it’s best to stay in the dark.
- Sticking out your tongue: We want to see your teeth instead!
- Raised eyebrows: Are you surprised or are you scared? We just want to see you look happy.
Photo YES’s
Just Have a Photo, Please: Although the above no-nos are bad, having no photo at all is a huge turnoff to 41% of singles, who identified this as worse than committing the photo faux pas outlined above!
The Perfect Number: 47% of singles say having 3-4 photos is the ideal number of pictures to have on a dating profile, as it provides a good overview of someone.
What About Facial Expressions? If you’re unsure of what facial expression to use in your next (unfiltered) selfie, the following are deemed most attractive on a dating profile:
- Smiling with teeth (56% of singles like this the most, and are 6 times more likely to message you if they think you have a great smile)
- Smiling closed mouth (14% of singles like this the most)
- Smizing AKA smiling only with the eyes (11% of singles like this the most)
It’s safe to say that when all else fails, show off that smile!
Should I Use My LinkedIn Headshot?
Your headshot might get you jobs, but singles are 4 times more likely to message someone with a regular, unfiltered photo of their face, than someone using a professional headshot on their profile
Substance Over Looks
While all of the above are important to keep in mind, it’s worth mentioning that 65% of singles say they’d rather see more information written in someone’s profile vs. more photos. This is an important reminder that it’s not all about looks, and your potential matches really want to get to know you, so fill out that profile! If you need tips on how to do this, read our blog post here.
There you have it! Now you’ve been given all the tips and tricks you need to keep that profile fresh.
